Job summary

Springwell Leeds Academy, part of Wellspring Academy Trust, invites applications for a Teaching Assistant (Scale 4). The post is permanent, 37 hours a week, term time plus 5 training days, based at Springwell Leeds Academy, Leeds.

You will support pupils with SEN/SEMH, working with teachers to deliver tailored programmes. Ideal candidates will have at least 1 year of relevant experience, English fluency, and Team Teach Level 2 training or willingness to obtain.

Qualifications

  • Good knowledge of child development and how children learn.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.

Teaching Assistant (Scale 4)

Location: Springwell Leeds Academy, Middleton Road, Leeds, LS10 3JA

This is a permanent position working 37 hours per week, Term Time only plus 5 training days

About the Role

Springwell Leeds Academy is seeking a dedicated and passionate Teaching Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will work under the guidance of teaching and senior staff to implement tailored work programmes with individual pupils or groups, both inside and outside the classroom.

Our ideal candidate will support pupils who face barriers to learning, helping to maintain an orderly, productive environment where every young person can thrive. This position involves working closely with children and young people who have special educational needs (SEN) and/or social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) difficulties.

What you will do:
  • Use specialist skills and experience to support pupils' learning and development.
  • Establish productive, supportive relationships with pupils, acting as a positive role model.
  • Assist with the implementation of Individual Education, Behaviour and Support plans.
  • Collaborate with teachers to establish an appropriate learning environment and assist with lesson planning and resource management.
  • Monitor, record, and evaluate pupil responses to learning activities, providing objective feedback to teachers.
What you need:
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience working with children of a relevant age or vulnerable individuals.
  • Training: Full commitment to all offered CPD; possession of (or willingness and capability to achieve) Team Teach Positive Behaviour Management Level 2 training.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of child development/how children learn, full knowledge of relevant codes of practice/legislation and knowledge of the underlying reasons that affect behaviour.
  • Skills: Excellent spoken and written English communication; ability to relate well to children and adults; strong team player with an ability to self-evaluate learning needs capability to personalise learning and support reluctant learners.
