Job summary

HARLOW COLLEGE in Harlow is seeking a Qualified Electrician or Electrical Teacher with FE experience for a permanent, full-time post. The role offers a salary up to £44,260 for qualified teachers and up to £35,063 for unqualified/apprentice routes.

You will support learners from Level 2 to Level 3, plan, deliver and assess learning, and work across the Electrical team at the Harlow Campus. Training towards teaching qualifications is provided.

Qualifications

  • Level 2 Maths and English at grade 4+ or equivalent.
  • Interest in moving into education or gaining teaching qualification.
  • Willingness to train and develop teaching skills in FE.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver and assess learning for Level 2–Level 3 learners.
  • Support both young people and adults to progress into sustainable roles.
  • Work with the Electrical team at Harlow Campus and attend college training.
  • Contribute to a personalised training plan during the apprenticeship.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual with recent or current experience as an Electrician to join our team. Whether you are an experienced professional ready to teach, or you’re looking to start your journey into education through an apprenticeship, this is an excellent opportunity to use your industry expertise to shape the next generation of Electricians.

About the Role

You will support learners enrolled on a range of programmes from Level 2 through to Level 3, including full‑time study programmes and Level 3 apprenticeships. Level 2 courses focus on core intermediate knowledge, while Level 3 develops advanced vocational and technical skills.

You will help plan, deliver and assess learning that is current, engaging and relevant—supporting both young people and adults to achieve their full potential and progress into sustainable roles within the building services industry.

Entry Requirements for both roles

To join us, you must already hold:

  • Level 2 (GCSE) Maths and English at grade 4 or above or equivalent

Teaching Route (Qualified or Trainee Teacher):

  • Youdo not need a teaching qualificationto join us in Further Education. What matters is your passion for developing tomorrow’s workforce.
  • We will fully support successful applicants in gaining their teaching qualificationat no cost**, while you work.

As an Apprentice Teacher, you will:

  • Be employed full-time on a permanent contract**
  • Spend part of the week working in the Electrical team at our Harlow Campus
  • Spend part of the week training at Harlow College
  • Follow a personalised training plan designed around your needs

You will teach young people across the Education and Training Sector (ETS), collaborating closely with colleagues to support learner progress and wellbeing.

Throughout the apprenticeship, you will complete:

  • On‑programme Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours (KSBs) Evidenced through your paid teaching role at Harlow College
  • Teacher Training Course Delivered one day per week at the College
  • Level 2 Maths and English (GCSE, grade 4+) Required before the programme begins

This apprenticeship typically takes up to2 yearsto complete. Upon successful completion, you will be awardedLevel 5 Teaching Certification, qualifying you as a fully trained Teacher.
