Vision West Nottinghamshire College seeks a dynamic Teacher for Alternative Provision (Flourish) to deliver Level 2 qualifications and a tailored wellbeing programme for learners with complex needs. The post involves teaching on the Flourish programme and embedding college values across delivery hours.

Salary The qualified salary will be within the qualified Delivery Scale, £31,000 to £41,616 per annum. The unqualified salary will be £28,764 per annum. Pro rata for part-time hours.

This is a great opportunity for a dynamic, professional individual qualified in an appropriate discipline to join a forward-thinking college to develop and teach on the groundbreaking ‘Flourish’ programme of study. The primary focus will be delivery of the Level 2 Higher Project Qualification, Level 2 BTEC in Work Skills and a fully bespoke tutorial and wellbeing programme designed to meet the needs of learners with significant mental health issues.

Several learners on the programme are also likely to have EHCPs and either diagnosed or un-diagnosed neurodivergence or learning needs. Many of the learners on this programme have also not come through mainstream education; some have been home schooled, other come from alternative provision or have had significant issues with attendance during their secondary education, due to physical or mental health issues.

Despite these challenges, the learners on the programme have demonstrated some academic ability and have a clear ambition to proceed onto an appropriate Level 3 programme within the college.

It is essential you are qualified to degree level and possess a teaching qualification or would be prepared to work towards this via our teacher apprenticeship programme. It’s desirable that candidates have some experience of working with learners with complex needs or in some form of alternative provision or youth work.

You will be a highly self-motivated, energetic and driven individual, encompassing a strong sense of autonomy. You will possess strong presentation and communication skills and be able to demonstrate achievement of targets.

You will be a role model for college learners and will work to the classroom professional standards.

A full-time teaching role has 828 delivery hours (pro rata for part time).
