Job summary

Kirklees Council is hiring for a part-time hourly paid position focused on Alternative Provision. The role involves teaching various sessions tailored for students from Entry Level 3 to Level 2, with a strong emphasis on personal development and understanding of SEND and neurodiversity.

Job Title: Part‑time Hourly Paid – Alternative Provision

Location: Springfield / Waterfront

Hours and Weeks per Year: Various

Responsibilities

• Your key responsibilities will be teaching a wide range of sessions to students working at Entry Level 3 to Level 2. You will be confident in the delivery of personal development skills and you will have a good understanding of SEND, neurodiversity, mental health needs and behavioural issues and how these impact on young people in learning environments.

Qualifications

• Ideally you’ll have Level 3 or higher (the specific subject area is less important than the transferrable skills), a teaching qualification at Level 5 and Maths & English at Level 2 (or be able to prove equivalent ability) and demonstrable experience in SEND teaching.
• You will have appropriate teaching strategies to support learning; particularly with students with SEND or SEMH needs. It’s important that you’re able to show a trauma informed approach and demonstrate our college values of Kindness, Unity and Excellence in your role.
• You will be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
