Job summary

New Appointments Group is seeking a System Support Engineer to maintain day-to-day IT systems and support colleagues across the business. The role is based in Folkestone with on-site requirements, and you will drive and have your own transport due to the location.

You will perform admin tasks on clients, servers and infrastructure, set up new users, troubleshoot issues, develop new systems, and generate documentation. Experience with C#/.NET and SQL reporting is beneficial.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of MS Office 365, Active Directory and Windows 10/11.
  • Excellent problem solving and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and prioritisation abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

  • Perform IT admin tasks on clients, servers and infrastructure.
  • Commission new users and set up their computers.
  • Troubleshoot issues with end users and infrastructure components.
  • Participate in the development of new systems.
  • Generate documentation for existing and new systems across the company.
  • Provide end-user support across the business.
  • Assess issues and proactively suggest and implement corrections.
  • Recommend purchases to enhance the IT department and business.
  • Develop and implement solutions, using C# and .NET.
  • Produce reports from SQL.

Job description

Job title: System Support Engineer

Location: Folkestone (you will need to drive and have your own transport due to location)

Salary: Competitive

Hours: Monday to Friday, with an early finish on Fridays!

You will be responsible for supporting the smooth and effective operation of the company's IT systems. The role will predominantly focus on providing day-to-day IT support, ensuring that internal systems are maintained and that colleagues across the business can use them with ease.

Key responsibilities
  • Performing IT admin tasks on clients, servers and infrastructure
  • Commission new users, including their computers and getting them set up
  • Troubleshooting issues with end users and infrastructure components

Experience and skills required

Desirable
  • IT Support - Software/Windows installation and troubleshooting
  • Network Management - cabling, firewalls, VLANS and routing and wireless
  • Server Management - VMWare, Windows and virtualisation
  • Programming - ideally C#, .NET and ASP WebForms/WinForms
  • Database - SQL server, data interrogation and reporting
  • Job Management - ticketing systems
