Job summary

Entanet is seeking a Systems Infrastructure Engineer to manage on-premise and hybrid cloud infrastructure in Telford. You will own Linux administration, virtualization (OpenStack/Proxmox), and automation, with migration work to AWS and other clouds.

You will collaborate across networks for RADIUS, DNS, NMS and logging, maintain patching cadence, and participate in an on-call rota. A hands-on, secure-by-design approach is essential.

Qualifications

• Strong Linux/OS administration in production environments.
• Experience with virtualization platforms including OpenStack/Proxmox.
• Understanding of on-prem to cloud migration processes.
• Familiarity with FreeRADIUS/TACACS+, DNS and centralized logging.
• Secure-by-design mindset aligned with Telecoms/NCSC/NIST guidance.
• Scripting in Bash/Python and automation with Ansible/Terraform.
• Methodical patching, change management and compliance discipline.
• Collaborative work across infrastructure and network teams.
• Comfort using AI-assisted tooling to accelerate deployment and patching.

Responsibilities

• Manage on-premise server and storage infra across data centres, including OpenStack/Proxmox and backup systems.
• Administer cloud environments (AWS) with infrastructure-as-code provisioning.
• Support migration and replacement of core services (DNS, NMS, logging) from CityFibre systems.
• Own Linux/OS administration, patching, virtualization and automated provisioning.
• Collaborate with Networks on network-related systems and integrations.
• Assist Cloud/AWS Engineer on data extraction from on-prem systems during migrations.
• Rebuild services that fall out of scope where required.
• Maintain configuration compliance and a reliable patching cadence with automation tooling (Ansible/Puppet).
• Utilise AI-assisted tooling to automate patching workflows and migration data validation.
• Handle on-call rota including out-of-hours remote troubleshooting and maintenance.
