Job summary

The British Museum is seeking a practical and proactive Systems Engineer to join our Information Services team. You will help deliver and support critical IT infrastructure across server, network, cloud and telephony services, keeping infrastructure available, secure and performing for around 1,000 staff and millions of visitors.

You'll monitor, maintain and improve infrastructure, respond to incidents, and work with colleagues and suppliers on projects and upgrades.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with core infrastructure: server, network, cloud and telephony services.
• Experience diagnosing and resolving complex infrastructure incidents.
• Good written and verbal communication, able to share knowledge with teams.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day operation, maintenance and performance of server, network and telephony infrastructure.
• Monitor system health, perform preventative maintenance and resolve incidents.
• Install, commission and maintain infrastructure equipment and support upgrades.
• Contribute to change control, system architecture and infrastructure projects.
• Help ensure security, continuity and disaster-recovery requirements.
• Maintain technical documentation and asset records.
• Collaborate with Service Desk and third-party suppliers; share knowledge.
