Job summary
The British Museum is seeking a pragmatic Systems Engineer to support and enhance its IT infrastructure, spanning server, network and telephony services. You will monitor, maintain and improve systems used by around 1,000 staff and visitors, with opportunities to contribute to cloud‑based initiatives.
Working within the Information Services team, you will collaborate with Service Desk and third-party suppliers, resolve incidents, and help implement upgrades, security, and disaster recovery
Qualifications
- Technical experience with Cisco switching and routing.
- Experience with Active Directory and Azure AD.
- Knowledge of Windows Server environments.
- Scripting/automation using PowerShell or similar.
- Understanding of Azure PaaS/IaaS services and cloud concepts.
Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day operation, maintenance and performance of server, network and telephony infrastructure.
- Monitor system health, perform preventative maintenance and respond to incidents per SLAs.
- Install, commission and maintain infrastructure equipment and support upgrades.
- Contribute to change control, system architecture and infrastructure projects.
