Job summary

West Sussex County Council is seeking a Systems and Data Lead to join the Systems Development Team in the Business Assurance Group. You will supervise staff, guide improvements to IT systems across the Highways, Transport and Planning directorate, and help ensure data and GIS support service decisions.

The role focuses on maintaining and enhancing core systems, supporting live environments, and delivering projects that improve how data and GIS are used for service delivery.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience deploying, maintaining and developing operational systems.
• Degree or equivalent qualification in a related field.
• Experience delivering training and support to colleagues on systems.
• Experience mentoring, supervising and/or task managing others.
• Experience managing budgets, expenditure or contracts.

Responsibilities

• Undertake day to day supervision within the team.
• Provide support, guidance and training to staff to ensure system compliance and identify improvements.
• Ensure systems meet current and future needs of the directorate and streamline processes.
• Lead and contribute to projects enhancing data, GIS and business systems usage for decision-making.
• Develop and deliver maintenance, development and continuous improvement of core management systems.
