Job summary

Staffordshire County Council seeks a proactive Highway Inspections Technical Support Officer to enable smooth operations of the Highway Inspections team. You will handle inquiries, maintain GIS records, and support work programmes across multiple stakeholders.

You will bring strong admin skills, a Level 3 qualification, and experience with databases and GIS. The role supports a busy public service environment with a focus on accuracy and collaboration.

Qualifications

• A Level 3 qualification or equivalent relevant experience.
• GCSEs 5 or above in English and Maths.
• Proven experience using databases with accuracy.
• Confident with engaging with a wide range of stakeholders.
• Proficient in Microsoft 365, GIS mapping tools and database systems.
• Experience processing purchase orders and invoices.
• Comfortable working in multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Act as a key member of the Highway Inspections team to ensure consistent practices.
• Provide first-line responses to enquiries from customers and stakeholders.
• Collate and analyse information to support performance reporting.
• Maintain digital records using record management systems and GIS.
• Update GIS mapping layers for Staffordshire County Council and stakeholders.
• Advise councillors and communities on highway inspection services.
• Assist in creating and managing work programmes and meetings.
• Handle financial information including purchase orders and invoices.
• Support performance management data analysis and audits.
• Maintain the team website, intranet, and SharePoint.
• Assist with claims, safety, environmental and quality procedures.
