Job summary

University of Glasgow is seeking a Systems Administrator to support the SUERC IT infrastructure at the Glasgow site. The role focuses on servers, networks, storage, and collaboration tools to ensure reliable services for 90–100 staff. You will work with local and central IT teams on improvements and projects.

The post reports to the Head of Operations and requires strong expertise in systems administration, security, and user support to maintain resilient operations.

Qualifications

• Experience in server, network, and systems administration.
• Understanding of information security best practices in a complex network.
• Ability to translate user needs into practical solutions.
• Familiarity with IT asset management and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain, and support server infrastructure and network components.
• Monitor performance, investigate faults, and address issues to ensure high availability.
• Provide first/second-line support for SUERC staff and incidents.
• Administer SUERC's inventory of IT assets and lifecycle management.
