Job summary

Leonardo UK is seeking a System Safety Engineer to work on complex safety-critical programs. You will assess hazards, perform safety analyses, and develop safety artefacts across the full lifecycle, contributing to robust, compliant radar and sensor systems.

The role involves collaboration with software, electronics and mechanical disciplines, with a focus on safety in cutting-edge defence projects. Security screening applies and hybrid/onsite work is available.

Qualifications

• Experience performing safety analysis on complex systems.
• Experience across multiple engineering lifecycle phases.
• Experience generating safety artefacts (SSHA, hazard log, fault trees, risk assessments).
• Knowledge of lasers, radar, sensors or related defensive aids systems.

Responsibilities

• Apply safety analysis across full system lifecycle from requirements to in-service support.
• Identify hazards and mitigations, support design trade-offs.
• Evidence decisions with fault trees, scenario analysis and similar methods.
• Contribute to continual improvement of Product Safety and Environmental Impact Management System.
