Job summary

Leonardo UK is recruiting experienced System Safety Engineers to apply safety analysis across the full lifecycle of complex systems, from requirements through deployment and in-service support. You will identify hazards, perform failure analyses and drive mitigations across disciplines.

Ideal candidates will have artefact creation experience (safety assessments, hazard logs, fault trees) and knowledge of lasers/radar systems.

Qualifications

• Experience of safety analysis of complex systems in a safety-critical industry.
• Experience across a number of engineering lifecycle phases.
• Experience generating safety engineering artefacts such as system safety assessment, hazard log, fault trees, risk assessments.
• Knowledge of lasers, radar systems, and/or sensors and defensive aids systems.
• Ability to work with different engineering disciplines (software, electronics, mechanical).
• Experience with ARP4754B, ARP4761A, RTCA DO-254, or DO-178C.

Responsibilities

• Use safety analysis skills across the full system lifecycle: from requirements analysis through design, development; to system integration, testing, delivery and in-service support.
• Identify hazards and investigate using functional failure analyses, determining mitigations and design trade-offs.
• Evidence decisions using fault tree analysis, scenario analysis and other techniques.
• Contribute to continual improvement of the Product Safety and Environmental Impact Management System.
