Job summary

Leonardo UK is recruiting for System Safety Engineers to work on complex, safety-critical radar and defence systems. You will apply safety analysis across the full lifecycle and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure regulatory compliance and safe, reliable platforms.

These permanent roles offer a grade-based salary framework (£38k–£75k across bands), BPSS/NSV screening, and hybrid working with onsite locations in the UK.

Qualifications

• Experience of safety analysis of complex systems in a safety-critical industry.
• Experience across a number of engineering lifecycle phases.
• Experience generating safety artefacts e.g. system safety assessment, hazard log, fault trees, risk assessments etc.
• Knowledge of lasers, radar systems, and/or sensors and defensive aids systems.
• Ability to work with different engineering disciplines, e.g. software, electronics, mechanical.
• Experience with at least one of: ARP4754B, ARP4761A, RTCA DO-254, or DO-178C.
• An interest in new and emerging technologies and safety analysis techniques.
• Experience with tools: Cameo Systems Modeler, IBM DOORS, Adelard ASCE, Isograph Reliability Work Bench.

Responsibilities

• Use safety analysis skills across the full system lifecycle: from requirements analysis (including bids and contracting); through design, development; to system integration, acceptance testing, delivery and in-service support.
• Identify hazards and investigate these using functional failure analyses and other techniques, identifying the necessary mitigations to reduce safety risks, and taking part in design trade-offs to implement them.
• Evidence your decisions using the data available to you, through fault tree analysis, scenario analysis, and various other techniques.
• Contribute to continual improvement of the Company Product Safety and Environmental Impact Management System.
