Job summary

Leonardo is seeking a System Safety Engineer in the United Kingdom to apply safety analysis across complex, safety-critical systems, ensuring regulatory compliance and fostering a safety culture. The role involves collaboration with software, electronics and mechanical teams and delivering robust safety artefacts.

You will perform hazard analysis, fault tree analysis, and contribute to continuous improvement of the Product Safety and Environmental Impact Management System. Training is provided.

Qualifications

• This role requires experience in safety analysis of complex systems within safety-critical industries.
• Experience across multiple engineering lifecycle phases is needed.
• Experience producing safety artefacts (system safety assessment, hazard log, fault trees, risk assessments).
• Knowledge of lasers, radar systems, and/or sensors and defensive aids systems is desirable.
• Ability to collaborate with software, electronics, and mechanical teams.
• Experience with ARP4754B, ARP4761A, DO-254, or DO-178C is preferred.
• Interest in new technologies and safety analysis techniques.
• Experience with the listed tools: Cameo Systems Modeler, IBM DOORS, Adelard ASCE, Isograph, Reliability Work Bench.

Responsibilities

• Apply safety analysis across the full system lifecycle from requirements to in-service support.
• Identify hazards and investigate with fault tree analysis and other techniques.
• Document decisions using fault trees, scenario analysis and other methods.
• Contribute to continual improvement of the Product Safety and Environmental Impact Management System.
