SCG Connected in Basingstoke is seeking a Systems Operations Engineer to architect, maintain and enhance the organisation’s mission-critical voice networking and server infrastructure for hosted telephony platforms. The role also acts as a senior escalation point for complex issues, ensuring availability and security within SLA targets.

You will lead infrastructure projects, manage updates and patches, and work across datacentres and offices, with hands-on responsibility for SIP handsets,

Formación

• Experience managing cloud telephony and multi-tenant environments.
• Strong network infrastructure knowledge incl. switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs.
• Linux (Ubuntu/CentOS) and Windows Server administration.
• Enterprise networking knowledge: TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, NAT, firewall management.
• Troubleshooting SIP/RTP and packet analysis with Wireshark.
• SIP School Certification (or equivalent).
• MySQL knowledge including queries and scripting.
• Strong analytical and diagnostic skills.
• Experience with SIP endpoints (Cisco, Yealink, Poly, Grandstream).
• Excellent communication, organization and risk awareness.

• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation and process guides.

Systems Operations Engineer

Location: Basingstoke

Salary: up to £55,000 (based on experience)

To architect, maintain, and continuously enhance the organisation’s mission-critical voice networking and server infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability of hosted telephony platforms.

The role also serves as a senior escalation point for complex technical issues, requiring advanced diagnostic capabilities and a proactive approach to resolution within defined SLA parameters.

Responsibilities:

• Act as a senior technical escalation resource for hosted voice platforms.

Skills and Experience:

• Experience managing cloud telephony and multi-tenant environments.
• Strong network infrastructure knowledge, including switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs, and network security.
• Linux (Ubuntu/CentOS) and Windows Server administration experience.
• Solid understanding of enterprise networking, including TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, NAT, and firewall management.
• Experience troubleshooting complex network and VoIP environments, including SIP/RTP and packet analysis using Wireshark.
• SIP School Certification (or equivalent).
• Good working knowledge of MySQL, including query and script creation.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and diagnostic skills.
• Experience with SIP endpoints such as Cisco, Yealink, Poly, and Grandstream.
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly to a range of audiences.
• Strong organisation, attention to detail, and risk awareness.
