Job summary

Focus Group's Silver Lining team seeks an Infrastructure Engineer based near Whiteley to maintain PCI-compliant voice platforms and secure communications.

You will diagnose incidents, support Linux and virtualised infrastructure, and deploy new customer environments while collaborating with partners and customers.

We're looking for an Infrastructure Engineer to join our Whiteley-based team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys a hands‑on technical role and thrives in a fast‑paced environment.

You’ll play a key role in supporting and maintaining our voice and PCI‑compliant platforms, ensuring customers receive reliable and secure services. From investigating complex VoIP and network issues to deploying new customer solutions and maintaining critical infrastructure, you’ll be at the heart of our operations.

Working alongside experienced engineers, technology partners, and customers, you’ll have the opportunity to expand your expertise across voice technologies, networking, Linux systems, and cloud‑based infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will:

• Diagnose and resolve incidents affecting our PCI and communications platforms.
• Analyse network traffic and packet captures using tools such as Wireshark.
• Investigate SIP, VoIP, and media‑related service issues.
• Collaborate with telecom providers, technology vendors, and customers to identify and resolve faults.
• Deploy and configure new customer environments and services.
• Carry out scheduled maintenance, upgrades, and system improvements.
• Support Linux servers and virtualised infrastructure platforms.
• Assist with datacentre operations, hardware installations, and infrastructure upgrades.
• Produce and maintain clear technical documentation.
• Participate in an out‑of‑hours support rota and planned maintenance activities.
• Contribute ideas and initiatives that enhance platform performance, reliability, and operational efficiency.

• Experience with scripting or automation tools such as Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
• Previous experience within an MSP, telecoms provider, or technology services environment.
