Job summary

The System Coordination Centre Commander position sits within the Integrated Care Board's System Coordination Centre, overseeing urgent and emergency care across multiple ICBs. Responsibilities include daily operations, capacity monitoring, and escalation of deteriorating performance.

A Master’s level education or equivalent senior experience is required. The role involves line managing centre staff, coordinating responses across ICBs, and delivering timely information to system leaders.

Qualifications

• Educated to master's level in a relevant subject, or equivalent senior experience.
• Membership of a relevant professional body.
• Evidence of post-qualifying and continuing professional development.

Responsibilities

• Run the System Coordination Centre daily with 8am–6pm coverage on a 150‑hour four‑week rota.
• Continuously monitor capacity and demand across urgent, emergency and related care systems.
• Identify deterioration and escalate using dashboards and performance targets.
• Coordinate responses across ICBs to maintain flow in urgent care pathways.
• Line manage centre staff including recruitment, CPD, and performance management.
• Prepare and present timely intelligence to system leaders for decision making.
