Job summary

A leading construction company is seeking a Sustainability professional to manage sustainability aspects of large infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in environmental management, strong leadership skills, and a degree or equivalent experience. This role involves ensuring compliance with sustainability strategies and supporting project teams throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Significant environmental and sustainability management experience in the construction industry (over 7 years).
  • Full driving licence and willingness to travel.
  • DBS check required prior to appointment.

  • Project management and commercial/contract management experience required
Your contribution to our company

Reporting to the Haweswater Aqueduct Resilience Programme (HARP) Senior Environment and Sustainability Manager, the main purpose of the role is to:

  • Manage all sustainability aspects of the HARP project in line with project requirements, STRABAG management system, and strategy
  • Manage project-related sustainability requirements according to client and business needs
  • Ensure delivery of projects aligns with STRABAG ESMS and Sustainability Strategy
  • Conduct site visits, inspections, share best practices, and educate project teams
  • Support project teams throughout the project lifecycle
  • Maintain records to ensure compliance with legislation, STRABAG, and client requirements
  • Support knowledge sharing, bid support, and strategy development across the wider business
  • Work with supply chain and procurement to ensure ISO20400 principles are followed
  • Manage contract delivery in line with PAS2080
  • Gather and report project-specific information to meet KPIs and ISO certification requirements
  • Mentor and develop Environment & Sustainability team members
  • Participate in working groups and forums
  • Support the Director of Environment and Sustainability as needed
  • Identify trends, develop improvement initiatives, and implement them
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with policies and procedures
