Job summary

  • Full member of a relevant professional institution (e.g., IEMA), with relevant Chartered status.
  • Full driving license and willingness to travel.
  • DBS check required prior to appointment.
  • Significant environmental and sustainability management experience in the construction industry on large infrastructure projects or equivalent (over 7 years).
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams in complex matrix organizations.
  • Project management and commercial/contract management experience required.

Reporting to the Haweswater Aqueduct Resilience Programme (HARP) Senior Environment and Sustainability Manager, the main purpose of the role is to:

  • Manage all sustainability aspects of the HARP project in line with project requirements, the STRABAG management system, and strategy.
  • Manage project-related sustainability requirements according to client and business needs.
  • Ensure delivery of projects aligns with the STRABAG ESMS and sustainability strategy.
  • Allocate time for project visits, inspections, sharing best practices, upskilling, and educating project teams.
  • Support project teams throughout the project lifecycle, including design, bidding, and delivery.
  • Maintain records for compliance with legislation, STRABAG, and client requirements.
  • Support the wider STRABAG business through knowledge sharing, bid support, and strategy.
  • Work with supply chain and procurement to ensure adherence to ISO20400 principles.
  • Manage delivery of all contracts in line with PAS2080.
  • Collect and report project-specific information in line with KPIs, ESMS, and ISO certification requirements.
  • Support, mentor, and develop team members in Environment & Sustainability.
  • Participate in working groups and forums as needed.
  • Assist the Director of Environment and Sustainability when required.
  • Review trends, develop improvement initiatives, and implement them.
  • Conduct inspections and audits to ensure compliance with STRABAG policies and procedures.
