Job description

We’re working with an established food manufacturer who are looking for an experienced Sustainability Manager who can embed effective sustainability and environmental strategies into every area of their operation.

About the Role

This is a key position with a successful food manufacturing business employing over 1,000 people. Part of a wider group, they supply a range of chilled and frozen products and supply into several major UK retailers.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing sustainability and environmental strategies, including areas such as energy, waste, Net Zero, and diversity and inclusion.
  • Leading your team and collaborating with other leaders and colleagues to embed cultural and behavioural change across the business.
  • Developing and delivering effective training and communication strategies.
  • Working closely with suppliers and customers to reduce the environment impact of product development, production and wider business activities.
  • Collating and reporting on sustainability performance data, monitoring performance against internal targets and statutory requirements.
  • Maintaining ISO 50001 compliance and driving continuous improvement.

About You

This is a great opportunity to drive sustainability in a business where there is a real appetite and desire to improve and we’re keen to hear from anybody with the following:

  • Experience in a senior sustainability role in a Food, FMCG, or manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of current legislation and environment reporting frameworks.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to collaborate with and influence internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • A passion for driving sustainability, with a proven track record in leading change.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills and experience.
  • Ideally hold a relevant Sustainability or Environmental qualification (preferred).
