Tasks
- Reporting to the Haweswater Aqueduct Resilience Programme (HARP) Senior Environment and Sustainability Manager and the Project Management, the main purpose of the role is to:
- Manage all sustainability aspects of the HARP project in line with both project requirements, the STRABAG management system and strategy.
- Manage project-related sustainability requirements in line with client and business needs.
- Manage delivery of projects in line with the STRABAG ESMS and the STRABAG Environment and Sustainability Strategy.
- Appoint time for project visits, undertake inspections, share best practices, and upskill project teams.
- Support project teams throughout the project lifecycle including design, bidding, and delivery.
- Maintain records to ensure compliance with legislation, STRABAG, and client requirements.
- Support the wider STRABAG business in knowledge sharing, bid support, and strategy development.
- Work with the supply chain and procurement team to ensure adherence to ISO20400 principles.
- Manage delivery of contracts in line with PAS2080.
- Gather, compile, and report project-specific information to meet KPIs and ISO certification requirements.
- Support, mentor, and upskill team members in Environment & Sustainability.
- Participate in working groups and forums as needed.
- Assist the Director of Environment and Sustainability as required.
- Review trends, develop improvement initiatives, and implement them.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Degree qualification or equivalent experience.
- Full membership of a relevant professional institution (e.g., IEMA), with Chartered status preferred.
- Full driving license and willingness to travel.
- Relevant CSCS card.
- DBS check required prior to appointment.
- Over 7 years of environmental and sustainability management experience in construction or similar large infrastructure projects.
- Strong leadership skills and experience managing teams in complex organizations.
- Project management and contract management experience.
