An innovative opportunity awaits in the realm of sustainability education! Join a dynamic team dedicated to integrating sustainable practices into bioscience curricula. This role involves conducting literature reviews, organizing workshops, and developing educational resources aimed at enhancing students' understanding of sustainability from the outset of their studies. As a part-time Sustainability in Education Research Assistant, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of bioscience education, ensuring that students are equipped with the necessary skills for sustainable research practices. If you're passionate about sustainability and education, this is the perfect role for you!
The Sustainable Research Team and Biosciences Education Team have received funding from the Education for Sustainability team to collaborate on developing resources that embed sustainability into the bioscience undergraduate curricula.
As scientific researchers, we have an ethical responsibility to reduce the environmental impact of our work. Laboratories consume significantly more energy per square foot than office spaces, and biological and medical research contribute to global plastic waste. Currently, bioscience students at King's College London (KCL) have limited exposure to sustainable practices until advanced in their studies or careers. Integrating sustainability into the curriculum from the start will equip students with essential skills for sustainable research practices.
Part of this project budget is allocated to hire a Sustainability in Education Research Assistant to support key tasks up to 8 hours per week. Please ensure you have your supervisor's support, as working hours are typically Monday to Friday, 9 am to 6 pm.
