Job summary

Glencraig Integrated Primary School in Holywood seeks a part-time Classroom Assistant (25 hours/week) to support pupils under the guidance of teaching staff. You will help with activity preparation, class management and safeguarding responsibilities, contributing to a safe and inclusive learning environment.

The role emphasises flexible working arrangements during school holidays and close collaboration with the teaching team to support pupil development and independence.

Qualifications

• Holds a Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in a relevant area.
• Has at least 6 weeks experience in a learning environment or placement.
• Demonstrates health and safety knowledge relevant to pupil care.
• Understands safeguarding and child protection requirements.
• Capable of planning, organising and following classroom procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in running the class and managing the learning environment.
• Support pupils individually and in groups to reinforce learning goals.
• Provide supervision and care during class activities and breaks.
• Assist with admin tasks and resource preparation as directed by the teacher.
• Ensure a safe, confidential and inclusive learning atmosphere.
