Job summary

Discovery is seeking a dedicated Waking Night Support Worker to help provide a calm, safe, and meaningful night-time environment for residents living with autism and learning disabilities. You will be part of a small, supportive team in a home where four residents are cared for overnight by trusted colleagues, focusing on presence, reassurance and dignity.

About the role

This is a small, supportive home where four people (three men and one woman in their 50s-70s) are supported overnight by support workers they know and trust. Everyone here is autistic and has learning disabilities with associated anxiety, so a calm, reassuring and consistent night-time environment is essential. Your role during the night is about presence, reassurance and creating a sense of safety that allows people to rest and feel secure

Every night, you'll help create a safe, calm, and comforting environment for the people we support.
Your role will include:

• Carrying out regular "keeping safe checks" to ensure everyone feels secure and comfortable.
• Maintaining a clean, hygienic space so that the environment is welcoming and safe.
• Recording important information using our easy-to-use IT systems - from support plans to health and safety logs - so we can provide the best care possible.
• Creating a therapeutic, reassuring atmosphere that promotes wellbeing throughout the night.
• Supporting people to enjoy their late evenings or nights in ways that matter to them.
• Providing personal care when needed, always with dignity and respect.
