Job summary

West Sussex County Council is seeking a part-time Support Worker to help residents at Tozer House, Chichester. The role involves enabling people to pursue their chosen activities and maintain health, while providing compassionate care and community engagement.

Qualifications

About Us

Our team at Tozer House Residential home we’re looking for a Support Worker to join us on a part time basis, to help the people we care for live the lives they want to lead.

The people we support are involved in a range of activities in their local community that keep everyone connected with the neighbourhood.

Activities include:
  • Voluntary work with the Chichester Canal Trust
  • Volunteering at the Cinnamon Trust with dog
  • Taking part in educational talks at Chichester College and the county’s schools
  • Joining the Community Art Project at Pallant House
  • Volunteering at Crimsham Farm

About The Job

Salary: £13.28 - £13.48 per hour (plus enhancements)

Enhancements: Weekend working - Time & a half, Bank Holidays - Double time & Night enhancement (8pm - 10pm shifts)

Working Pattern: 21 hours per week (shifts on a 4 week rota)

Contract Length: Permanent

Location: Tozer House, Chichester

Key Skills:
  • You are able to interpret information, such as service complaints, and redirect them to the appropriate person to provide quick and accurate resolution.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • You will show the ability to deal appropriately with expressive behaviour from the people we support, and respond sensitively to their families and carers.
  • Confident in building relationships with people from a wide variety of cultural, religious and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Enjoy working as part of a team completing shared tasks as required.
Qualifications and/ experience:
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills, in order to record and document activities in the provider plans.
  • Basic understanding of the needs of the people we support and their rights as an individual.
  • Demonstrable successful experience of working as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety practice, First Aid and Fire procedure, Manual Handling - Desirable
  • NVQ 2/Diploma in Care or equivalent qualification - Desirable
  • Previous experience of working in a care setting and with people who have a disability or are vulnerable - Desirable
  • Previous experience of running group activities - Desirable
