Job summary

Encompass in Chirnside is seeking a kind, patient support worker for a 9-year-old girl with ASD/ADHD. You will help her find regular activities and accompany her to attend them regularly, ensuring safety and well-being.

Role includes personal care support if needed, sensitivity to textures, and frustration management. Flexible hours up to 3 hours weekly; mileage for social outings is reimbursed. Probation 6 months; PVG scheme membership required.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting a young person with ASD/ADHD.
• Understanding of texture sensitivities and food textures.
• Ability to support personal care if required.
• Ability to work in a home setting with privacy and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

A family and a young 9-year-old girl in Chirnside are looking for someone to provide the girl with some support on a regular basis. The hope is that the support worker could help the girl to find some regular activity to attend and support her to go along on a regular basis. The role is for around 3 hours per week but this can be used flexibly to suit. This role would be suitable to someone who has experience of ASD and ADHD and can support a young person with issues relating to this including sensitivity to textures and frustration management.

Terms:

• Hours per week: Up to 3 hours a week – to be used flexibly.
• Hours of work: to be determined when activity planned out with school hours.
• £14.50 per hour.
• Paid annual leave entitlement of 5.6 weeks pro rata
• Probationary period of 6 months
• Post subject to references and PVG scheme membership
• Mileage up to45p per mile for social outings

Job Description

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

• To support a young person to ensure their safety and well-being as she has no awareness of danger when out and about in particular.
• To support with personal care needs if required
• To support with general care needs such as chopping up of food and being aware of food textures if required.
• To support client to find a regular activity to attend then on-going support to attend this activity.
• To develop a positive relationship with the young person and her family.
• To interact with the client and keep them entertained with activities they enjoy.
• To work alongside a parent or another member of the team when required but to work independently too
• To accompany the client on short trips out of the house for social activities.
