Job description

10 hours a week - to include 3 days a week between 11am and 2pm to support at work

Hourly pay rate:

I am looking for a caring, reliable, and understanding Support Worker to provide both practical and emotional support for my 21 year old daughter.

The role will primarily involve supporting her to attend and travel to and from her workplace. Ideally, the successful candidate would also be able to provide support whilst she is at work, as she is currently finding it difficult to attend due to a lack of appropriate support.

In addition to work-related support, the role will include providing emotional support outside of work. This may involve being something to talk to, offering encouragement, helping her manage challenges, and providing general day-to-day support to improve her wellbeing and confidence.

My daughter is autistic and would benefit from someone who is patient, understanding, and able to build a trusting relationship. It is essential that you have experience with Autism, mental health and selective mutism and not just training in these areas. A support worker who is autistic themselves would be welcomed.

  • Other relevant duties as required
  • Transportation
  • Respectful of the employer's privacy and confidentiality
  • Reliable with good timekeeping
  • Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
  • Hygienic, tidy and well organised
  • Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
  • Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills
  • Honest and cheerful
  • Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
  • Able to always work to high standards of health & safety

Additional requirements

Non-smoker preferred or someone willing to refrain from smoking during working hours

Notes:

All applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check if required. If the role is offered on a self-employed basis, you will be responsible for the cost of your own DBS check.

If you are successful in your application for this position, you will be either engaged directly or employed by the individual employer and not by Independent Lives. The role may be offered on an employed or self-employed basis, depending on the suitability and agreement with the employer. If the role is employed, you will be entitled to holiday pay and issued an employment contract.

Please note: If you do not hear back within three weeks of applying, unfortunately your application has not been successful on this occasion.
