Job summary

Ceredigion County Council Direct Payment Support Service is seeking a friendly Support Worker to spend time with a lively, active 10-year-old boy. The role centers on companionship, play and helping him stay occupied, including simple meal preparation and light tidy tasks.

Hours are flexible and include up to 7 hours per week on weekends during term time, plus about 12 hours in school holidays. Some driving may be required, with mileage reimbursed at 45p per mile.

Support Worker required for Outgoing and Active Child (Ref 010486)

Pay: £14.80 per hour (open to discussion depending on hours and availability)

We are looking for an enthusiastic, easy-going Support Worker to spend time with a fun-loving and active 10-year-old boy with a great sense of humour. This role is focused on companionship, play, and helping him stay occupied. It might include helping him prepare a meal and cleaning up.

Hours:

• Up to 7 hours per week Saturday or Sunday during term time, couple hours after school.
• During school holidays, approximately 12 hours per week, very flexible (discussion welcome)
• Hours are very flexible and can vary week to week

About:

He loves going on outings such as swimming, bowling, trampolining or badminton etc. He also enjoys cooking and baking and having fun. He is fully mobile and communicates verbally. He has a speech and language difficulty, so patience, encouragement, and a calm approach are important.

The Role:

• Supporting him with active play and outings
• Playing games and engaging in activities at home
• Encouraging independence and carrying out life skills
• Occasionally helping with light household tasks (such as hoovering or wiping down the kitchen) if he is resting or watching his tablet
• Occasional driving may be required to take him further afield (reimbursed at standard 45p per mile)

About You:

• Enthusiastic, relaxed, and confident using your initiative
• Patient and encouraging, especially with communication
• Personal or professional experience with SEN is preferred, but not essential
