Encompassborders seeks a kind and reliable Support Worker/Personal Assistant for a lady in sheltered accommodation in Chirnside, Scotland. You will provide daily home support, including medication administration, personal care, basic meals, and emotional companionship while upholding privacy.

The role offers permanent or ad hoc hours with a 2-week rota. Saturday shifts from 10am to 4pm (6 hours) are available, at £15 per hour, with 5.6 weeks leave and a PVG check requirement.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of caring for someone with Parkinson's or fatigue is helpful.
  • Empathy, patience and willingness to learn routines.
  • Ability to work discreetly in a home setting and maintain confidentiality.
  • PVG scheme membership (as required).
  • Previous care experience not essential if suitable personal attributes are shown.

Responsibilities

  • Support client to ensure safety and wellbeing at home.
  • Assist with personal care needs (washing/dressing, toilet).
  • Administer medications and monitor health needs as directed.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship throughout the day.
  • Prepare meals/drinks and encourage fluids; keep home tidy.
  • Engage in activities the client enjoys and maintain privacy/respect.
  • Build positive relationships with client and family.

Support Worker/Personal Assistant – Chirnside

A kind and intelligent lady living in sheltered accommodation in Chirnside is looking for additional staff to join her small team.

Her PA’s say they love this job!

Both permanent and ad hoc PAs are required. She lives with Parkinson’s, chronic fatigue and anxiety. The role is to provide general daily support within the home including medication, small meals (no cooking), domestic tasks, social contact and emotional support. Some personal care is required. This lady appreciates a calm and kind personality, patience and a willingness to learn her routines and preferences. Also someone who can occasionally assist her with using an iPad.

Anyone who can help with any of the times needed is encouraged to apply on a job share basis. There is also the opportunity for additional hours to cover sickness and annual leave. A 2 week repeating rota is used.

Hours available:

Saturday from 10am to 4pm.

Hours are 6 per week.

  • £15.00 per hour
  • Paid annual leave entitlement of 5.6 weeks pro rata
  • Probationary period of 6 months
  • Post subject to references and PVG scheme membership
Job Description

  • To support the client to help ensure her safety and wellbeing

  • To interact with the client and keep her entertained with activities she enjoys within the home

  • Knowledge of chronic fatigue syndrome would be desirable but is not essential

Experience is not essential for a candidate with the right personal attributes; however, applicants should be able to demonstrate some suitability for the role.
