Job summary

Orbis Education and Care is recruiting a Support Worker for the Oakfield service in Cardiff to support children and young people with learning disabilities, autism and mental health needs. The role offers hours per week and pay of £13.45–£13.75 per hour, dependent on experience and qualifications.

You’ll provide nurturing, person-centred care, promote independence and help with daily living tasks, while working on a rota including some evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• A caring, patient and resilient approach.
• Strong communication skills and a positive, proactive attitude.
• Flexibility to work days, evenings and weekends on a rota.
• A full UK driving licence (essential).
• A willingness to learn — full training is provided.
• This role involves regulated activity with children and requires an Enhanced DBS with children’s barred list check.

Responsibilities

• Promote emotional, physical and social wellbeing through consistent, caring support.
• Build strong, trusting relationships so every child feels safe and understood.
• Provide personal care where required, always with dignity and respect.
• Encourage independence and support the development of social and life skills.
• Support education, home activities and community engagement.
• Work closely with colleagues and professionals to deliver person-centred care.
• Maintain accurate records and reports.
• Help with everyday household tasks including cooking, cleaning and meal preparation.
