Job summary

Active Care Group is seeking a part-time Residential Child Care Support Worker for Pear Tree House in Swindon. You will safeguard and support children, build positive relationships, and assist with daily living activities while pursuing a Level 3 or 4 Diploma in Residential Child Care.

The role offers pro rata annual pay of £27,766.15 (FTE) with a range of staff benefits and development opportunities. You will join a large UK provider committed to safeguarding and high-quality care.

Qualifications

• NVQ 3 or equivalent in Childcare is required or expected to work towards it.
• Demonstrated interest in person-centred care for children.
• Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
• Lived in the UK for at least 3 years.
• Committed to safeguarding and child welfare.

Responsibilities

• Safeguard and promote welfare of children and young people at all times.
• Build relationships with children and young people.
• Establish communication methods with children to reduce barriers.
• Assist with mealtimes and daily living activities.
• Report activities accurately to on-shift team leader.
• Support with activities and accompany on trips where needed.

What you'll be doing:

• The post holder has a responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people at all times.
• All staff are expected to act in accordance with safeguarding legislation, organisational policies, and statutory guidance.
• We believe safeguarding is everyone's responsibility.
• We expect all staff to be vigilant, proactive, and committed to creating a safe, nurturing environment where children feel protected, listened to, and respected.
• Build relationships with children and young people.
• Establish methods of communication with children and young people, reducing barriers when necessary.
• Assist children and young people with mealtimes where necessary.
• Support with activities of daily living and personal care when needed.
• Communicate any issues to the on-shift team leader or management.
• Accurately report and/or record work activities.

What you'll have:

• A genuine interest in providing the best person-centred care possible for our young people.
• NVQ 3 or equivalent in Childcare, or be willing to work towards this.
• Previous experience of working within a children's home or within the child care sector, Autism/ LD is desirable.
• Should have lived in the UK for 3 years.
• The ability to communicate effectively at all levels.

What you'll be working:

We have both day shifts or night shifts available Full-time.

You will have an opportunity to learn whilst you work with Active Care Group. After probation, you will be working towards the Level 3 or 4 Diploma in Residential Child Care.
