Job summary

Active Care Group is seeking an experienced Support Worker/Childcare Worker at Applewood Lodge, Stafford. You will work across full-time or part-time shifts, including days or nights, with rota weekends, to provide high-quality residential childcare for young people up to 18 with complex needs. • Provide daily living support including meals and personal care.
• Ensure safety by promptly reporting issues to the on-shift Team Leader or management.
• Maintain accurate records of all activities and care provided.

We have an amazing opportunity for an experiencced Support worker / Childcare worker to join our childcare service at Applewood Lodge, Stafford. Please note we are NOT able to offer sponsorship for this role and therefore will not be able to progress any candidates who require a certificate of sponsorship to work in the UK.

Applewood Lodge is our new specialist residential service for children up to the age of 18 years old with complex care needs. The children we support will be trauma-informed and have mental health.

Salary: £27,766.15 (FTE) Per annum (Pro rata) Hours: 37.5hrs per week Location: Applewood Lodge, Ivetsey Road, Wheaton Aston, Stafford, ST19 9QW

What you’ll be working

• Full Time & Part time/Days & Nights to choose from
• Full time or Part time - Days or Nights to choose from! (Full time - 37.5hrs per week)
• Involving shift work and alternate weekends, requiring flexibility to ensure the home operates smoothly and safely.
• Working arrangements will be discussed further during the interview process.
• Days and Nights to choose from
• Working Every other weekend on a rota
• Rolling 2-week rota shifts
• Working towards Level 3 Diploma in Residential Child Care
• Salary - £27,766.15 (FTE) Per annum (pro rata) (depending on experience)

What you’ll be doing

• Engage & Connect: Actively build rapport and establish effective communication methods with children and young people, overcoming any communication barriers.
• Provide Essential Support: Assist with daily living tasks, including mealtimes and personal care, as needed, and support with all activities and hobbies.
• Ensure Safety & Continuity: Communicate any emerging issues promptly to the on-shift Team Leader or management.
• Maintain Accurate Records: Accurately document and report on all work activities.

What you’ll have

• Aged 21 years and over
• Driving licence and ability to drive is required due to rural location settings
• Person-Centred Passion: A genuine commitment to providing the highest standard of person-centred care for our young people.
• Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 in residential Childcare gained or in progress
• Residency Requirement: Must have resided in the UK for a minimum of 3 years.
• Effective Communicator: The ability to communicate effectively across all levels.
• Relevant Experience: A minimum of 9 months' experience in childcare, with specific experience working within the childcare sector, particularly with mental health and/or Trauma
