Job summary

Milestone Support Services is hiring a Support Worker in the Southampton area to assist individuals with complex needs in daily living, activities, and community engagement.

You will promote safety, independence, and person-centred care, while following PBS plans and safeguarding guidelines. A full UK driving licence is essential for transporting clients to appointments and activities.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting individuals with complex needs and behaviours that may challenge.
  • Clear understanding of person-centred care and delivering safe, effective support.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and health and safety practices.
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends.
  • A full UK driving licence is essential for transporting service users.

  • Assist individuals with daily living skills and personal care.

About The Role
Key Information

Pay Rate: £12.89-£13.40/hour

Hours: Flexible part-time or full-time shifts available

Weekend Work: Weekend availability required (flexible rota)

What You'll Be Doing
  • Supporting healthy lifestyles, including activities, nutrition, and hydration
  • Encouraging community involvement, such as work, education, social groups, and leisure activities
  • Supporting individuals to go on holiday and attend events
  • Promoting safety and wellbeing at home and in the community
  • Supporting individuals to build and maintain positive relationships
  • Managing and reducing risks while promoting positive risk-taking
  • Supporting emotional regulation and responding appropriately on challenging days
  • Implementing support strategies for behaviours that may challenge, in line with Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plans
  • Assisting with daily living skills, including shopping, budgeting, and money management
  • Supporting male and female clients with personal care (this can include but is not limited to: Bathing, toileting, dressing, feeding, etc)
Who We're Looking For
  • Have experience supporting individuals with complex needs and behaviours that may challenge
  • Previous experience providing high-quality personal care, always promoting dignity, choice, and independence.
  • The enthusiasm to motivate and empower individuals to try new experiences, develop life skills, build confidence, and maintain an active lifestyle.
  • A sound understanding of person-centred care and the ability to work in accordance with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) Fundamental Standards, delivering safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well-led support.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, moving and handling, infection prevention and control, and health and safety.
  • Are confident, calm, and consistent in their approach
  • Are resilient, optimistic, and positive
  • Are creative and flexible in how they provide support
  • Value teamwork and reflective practice
  • Experience within supported living, learning disability, autism, or mental health services is highly desirable.
  • A full UK driving licence isessential, as the role involves transporting and supporting individuals to attend appointments, access the local community, and enjoy a wide range of activities.
