Independent lives is seeking a patient, understanding PA to support a daughter with limited literacy, moderate to severe hearing loss, and complex behavior at times. The role emphasizes building trust, encouraging independence, and providing day-to-day assistance.
You will prompt for daily routines, assist with personal grooming, manage transport and finances, ensure hearing aids are worn, support cooking and chores, and maintain high standards of health, safety, and privacy.
We are seeking a compassionate and patient support worker for our daughter, she is unable to read or write, has moderate to severe hearing loss, and is not always aware of dangers around her. Our daughter experiences mood swings and requires repetition throughout the day. She values her independence but needs significant support, patience, and encouragement. She does not like to be rushed or bossed around, so understanding and patience are essential.
Her hobbies are football, and she likes anything to do with horses, loves shopping, charity shops. Not clothes shops but practical shopping. She loves looking at DVDs, music, cooking and going to the cinema.
Once she gets to know you, she is a chatterbox (but she can repeat herself a lot) and she can be a laugh/funny.
We are looking for a PA who is patient, encouraging and understanding to support our daughter, who can be complex at times, with the most important part of the role being to build a trusting relationship and simply be a supportive friend while helping her with daily activities and encouraging her independence.
