Job summary

Sense is a leading disability charity delivering personalised, flexible support for people with complex needs. This college-based role in Dereham supports learners to achieve outcomes and transitions into adulthood, within our values and a collaborative team environment.

The role involves helping with personal care, supporting education plans, and ensuring high-quality learning experiences for learners. Two positions are available, full-time, 35 hours weekly.

Qualifications

• Experience with people who have sensory impairment, autism or learning disability is advantageous.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team while using initiative.
• Experience of person-centred planning, keeping records up to date, and providing personal care.

Responsibilities

• Prepare learners for transitions into adulthood.
• Work with learners to achieve outcomes of Education, Health and Care Plans.
• Operate within Sense values to keep learners at the centre and empower them to influence their services.
• Provide personal care as required.
• Support high-quality education experiences.

Job description

We’re looking for two great individuals to join our professional team of Education Support Workers at our College in Dereham, working 35 hours per week on a full-time permanent basis - Monday to Friday 9:15am - 4:15pm

Your role is to prepare learners appropriately for the many possible transitions into adulthood. You will work closely with learners to achieve outcomes of their Education, Health and Care Plans. You will work within the framework of the Sense Values to:

• Keep the needs of the learners at the centre of your attention at all times;
• Enablelearners to influence their services and the way they are supported;
• Help Sense to provide a high-quality education experience
• Supporting people with their personal care is a requirement of this role.

About you

• Previous experience of working with people who have a sensory impairment, autism or learning disability would be an advantage, as would knowledge of BSL, Makaton or other methods of communication however, training will be provided.
• It is essential that you are able to work effectively as part of a team whilst demonstrating your own initiative.
• You will have had experience of person centred planning, keeping records up to date and providing personal care.
• Level 2 (or equivalent) in English and Maths is an essential requirement for this role.
