Job description

Sense Supported Living Services Sense Sense 2.98K subscribers. Could you be the calm, consistent presence someone relies on?

Here at Sense, we support disabled people with complex needs to live the life they choose. We're looking for Support Workers to join us at Norbins Road, our welcoming, spacious home in Glastonbury. The home is within walking distance of the high street, with public transport links from Street, Wells, Polsham and Coxley. These are permanent positions with flexible hours from 22.5 to 37.5 per week, paying £13.00 per hour. Shifts are varied across seven days and include regular sleep-ins, paid as an additional allowance.

For genuine occupational reasons, these posts are restricted to female applicants (exemption under Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010).

The People You'll Support

Life at Norbins Road is busy and sociable, from theatre trips and concerts to cooking at home and quiet afternoons in the garden. The people we support use a mix of verbal and non verbal communication, so we'll support you to develop your BSL skills. There will be times when the people we support experience distress, and behaviours that challenge that are part of the role, but you'll never manage this alone, with full training and ongoing support provided. Consistency and familiar faces matter deeply here, and the relationships you build are at the heart of everything you do.

About You
  • Are practical, calm and solution focused
  • Value consistency and building trusted relationships
  • Are committed to learning, with real opportunities to progress
  • Are comfortable with a varied shift pattern including sleep-ins
  • Are open to developing BSL skills (full support provided)
Why Join Us?
  • Flexible working hours
  • Excellent training and real career development
  • Learn from an experienced manager with over 20 years at Sense
  • A supportive team culture where you'll never stop learning

Benefits
  • 24 days' holiday + bank holidays; increasing with length of service
  • Matched pension contributions up to 5%.
  • Cashback and discounts on high street brands (including 10% off Sense shops)
  • Travel season ticket loans
  • Enhanced sick pay
  • Free DBS check (if required)
  • £350 refer-a-friend scheme
  • Access to 100+ online and face-to-face training courses (including the Care Certificate)
  • Free access to the Wisdom wellbeing app
