Job summary

The Squirrels, part of the Cygnet Group, is seeking a compassionate Support Worker (Days) to join our dedicated team. This 42-hour permanent role involves 12-hour day shifts on a 7-day rota, including approximately two weekends per month, with early starts around 7:00 am and late finishes around 10:00 pm.

The Squirrels is a specialist residential service for adults with autism and learning disabilities, aimed at promoting independence and community integration.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting adults with Autism and/or Learning Disabilities or working within a care setting.
  • Understanding of behaviours that may challenge with a proactive approach to support.
  • Caring, compassionate and enthusiastic attitude with a genuine desire to help others succeed.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with residents, families, and colleagues.
  • Team-focused approach with ability to work collaboratively in a supportive environment.
  • Flexibility and enthusiasm for supporting a variety of community activities, social events, and meaningful experiences.
  • Commitment to promoting independence, choice, dignity, and wellbeing for the people we support.

Responsibilities

  • Support workers assist adults with autism and/or learning disabilities to live independently and participate in community activities.
  • Provide person-centred care, support routines, and help with daily living tasks.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to promote safety and wellbeing.

About the Role

We are offering a 42-hour permanent contract, working 12-hour day shifts across a 7-day rota, including approximately two weekends per month.

Shift patterns vary, with some starting as early as 7:00 am and others finishing at 10:00 pm.
