Job description

I am a lady in my mid forties who is looking for a patient and proactive Support Worker to help me build confidence, develop everyday skills and enjoy more independence both at home and in the community. I live with my wife, two cats and a small dog, I have some daily mental health challenges including anxiety and I am also neurodivergent. I also experience some physical health issues due to my fibromyalgia. At times, I can find it difficult to leave the house without support, so having the right person alongside me could make a real difference.

The support will be varied and person-centred, with the aim of helping me feel more confident and comfortable in everyday life. Support may include:

  • Accompanying me to café's.
  • Going for walks and encouraging gentle activities
  • Supporting me to attend hospital and other important appointments.
  • Helping with meal preparation and developing confidence in the kitchen.
  • Supporting me to build practical skills and independence around the home.
  • Encouraging me to try new activities and explore interests outside the home.
  • Providing reassurance and gentle encouragement when anxiety makes things difficult.

I am an artistic person who enjoys paper crafting. I often spend time being creative around my night-shift work. The right Support Worker will be calm, compassionate, reliable and non-judgemental, with an understanding of anxiety and neurodiversity. You will need to be patient with an understanding of the importance on routine and good timekeeping.
