Job summary

Virtual Hire Staffing is seeking a care assistant to provide person-centred support across a range of locations in the Bristol area. The role offers zero-hours flexibility with a mix of day, night and sleep-in shifts, and requires a Level 3 Health and Social Care qualification along with a full UK driving licence.

Job description

Location:Bristol, Cornwall, SouthGloucesterand Devon.

Salary:£17 per hour

Work Pattern: Zero Hours Flexible work opportunity with a variety of shifts available including days,nightsand sleep ins.

Our client provides care and support to children and adults with complex needs, including learning disabilities, autism, mental health challenges, behaviours that may challenge, and chronic conditions.They aim to enable each person to live as independently as possible in their own home and community. Each care package is personalised to meet individual needs, goals, and aspirations. Duties
  • Provide care in line with best practice, legislative requirements, policies, and agreed standards.
  • Deliver person-centred care tailored to each individual’s needs.
  • Support senior carers, nurses, and registered managers with care plan updates, raising issues where necessary.
  • Maintain and update skills through ongoing training.
  • Travel to various care home, hospital, and homecare locations as required.
  • Support individuals in building and maintaining relationships within their communities.
  • Follow care plans and complete relevant documentation.
  • Use electronic care notes (full training provided).
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of service users.
  • Develop strong working relationships with colleagues and the wider team.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Act as an ambassador for the organisation at all times.
Requirements
  • Level 3 in Health and Social Care.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own car.
  • At least one year of experience in a care role.
  • Experience in high-pressure environments.
  • Experience using apps for electronic care note-taking.
  • Strong written and spoken English.
  • Knowledge of learning disabilities and mental health.
  • Empathy and skills in promoting independence.
  • Strong time management, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities.
  • Experience supporting individuals who may display challenging behaviour.
  • Knowledge of the healthcare and social care sectors, relevant legislation, commissioning, and local authority processes.

Job Responsibilities
  • Best Practice Care: Provide care in line with best practices and legislative requirements, adhering to policies and procedures under the guidance of senior staff.
  • Person-Centred Support: Deliver individualised, person-centred care that meets the unique needs of each supported individual.
  • Care Plan Collaboration: Assist senior carers and registered managers in proactively updating care plans, elevating issues as needed.
