Job summarySupport Medical Secretaries - Oncology/Haematology/Palliative CarePost one: 37.5 hours per week - based at Alexandra HospitalPost two: 30 hours per week - based at Worcestershire Royal HospitalAn exciting opportunity has arisen for two Support Medical Secretaries to join the Oncology, Haematology & Palliative Care Directorate at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. These roles are pivotal in enabling the Directorate to provide a high-quality, comprehensive and professional administrative service to patients, relatives, carers and other internal and external stakeholders. Once initial training in the role is complete we offer1-2 days of home working per week aspart of an existing home working roster within the team.
You will need to be a highly motivated and flexible teamplayer with excellent organisational and communication skills. The ability towork under pressure and effectively prioritise your own workload is essential.We are looking for support secretaries with high standards and an eye fordetail. You must have the ability to multi-task and work in a busy, everchanging environment.
Previous Medical Secretarial experience would be desirable,as well as being able to work on your own initiative with well-developedcommunication and interpersonal skills.
An understanding of NHS IT systems (including PASAllscripts) is desirable but not essential, as full training will be given.

Main duties of the jobYou will be working on varied roles but your main duties include the following :
Type patient letters relating to clinic appointments, test results, referrals from digital audio dictation. Escalating any urgent actions beyond your remit to the Senior Medical Secretary as appropriate.
Cover tasks during the medical secretaries absences (sickness and annual leave) taking telephone messages and undertaking any urgent typing and tasks for the consultant and team.
Management of patient investigations using Trust computer systems.
Dealing with telephone queries from patients/other healthcare workers.
