Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting enthusiastic Primary Supply Teachers to work across Colchester's welcoming Primary Schools. Roles are day-to-day, short-term or long-term with flexible schedules and competitive daily rates.

You will deliver pre-planned lessons, maintain high standards of behaviour, and help pupils progress in the absence of their class teacher.

Qualifications

• QTS or be an Early Career Teacher (ECT).
• Experience teaching within a UK Primary School.
• Strong knowledge of the Primary National Curriculum.
• Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
• The ability to adapt quickly to different school environments.
• A positive, enthusiastic and flexible approach to teaching.

Responsibilities

• Deliver pre-planned lessons across EYFS to KS2 as required.
• Maintain high standards of behaviour and create an engaging learning environment.
• Ensure pupils continue to make progress in the absence of their class teacher.

Job Title: Primary Supply Teacher

Location: Colchester, Essex

Start Date: September 2026 (Immediate Starts Available)

Salary: £140 - £180 per day (Dependent on Experience)

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a number of fantastic Primary Schools across Colchester who are looking to recruit enthusiastic and reliable Primary Supply Teachers to join them on a day-to-day, short-term and long-term basis.

Whether you're an experienced Primary Teacher or an Early Career Teacher (ECT), supply teaching offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience, enjoy greater flexibility, and build relationships with a range of local schools. We have work available to suit your availability, whether you're looking for one day a week or full-time opportunities.

The successful Primary Supply Teacher will be responsible for delivering pre-planned lessons, maintaining high standards of behaviour, creating an engaging learning environment, and ensuring pupils continue to make progress in the absence of their class teacher.

The successful Primary Supply Teacher will have:

• QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or be an Early Career Teacher (ECT)
• Experience teaching within a UK Primary School
• Strong knowledge of the Primary National Curriculum
• Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
• The ability to adapt quickly to different school environments
• A positive, enthusiastic and flexible approach to teaching
