Job summary

A UK-based managed services company is seeking a Supplier Quality Manufacturing Engineer to lead product qualification activities, collaborate with suppliers, and drive quality improvements. The ideal candidate will have technical training in engineering and a strong grasp of quality management systems (like ISO9001). The role requires a self-motivated individual with experience in managing multi-problem investigations and critical manufacturing processes. The position is located in Warwick with some travel to suppliers.

Role: Supplier Quality Manufacturing Engineer

Location: Warwick

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: 12 months +

Rate: 35- 55 P/hr Umbrella DOE

As a Supplier Quality Manufacturing Engineer, your day will be filled with engaging interactions with suppliers, analyzing data, and driving continuous improvement. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the highest quality standards are met, while fostering strong relationships with our clients suppliers.

How You'll Make an Impact
  • Lead Product Qualification Activities at Suppliers - Product and Process Qualifications (PPQs)
  • Contain, manage and resolve Quality issues relating to supplier non-conforming components identified at our clients assembly facilities, warehouses or customers globally.
  • Manage suppliers to properly handle non-conformance issues.
  • Assist with process improvements.
  • Lead supplier root cause investigations and corrective actions through Problem Resolution process.
  • Investigate and resolve manufacturing capability issues within the supply chain to ensure business continuity.
  • Identify and support cost reduction opportunities through interaction with the Supply Chain/Strategic Business
  • Audit existing and potential suppliers to determine capability of manufacturing and ensure quality systems are in place.
  • Develop supplier capability to meet current and future requirements
  • Interact with customer-facing businesses to investigate potential product non-conformances
  • Product manufacturing development and improvement via regular in person presence at supplier sites
What You Bring

Required:

  • Technical training or further education in quality, mechanical, or electrical engineering
  • Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (e.g. ISO9001), Supplier Quality Management (SQM) and Quality Control routines.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of drawing interpretation (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
  • Demonstrated ability to work with design engineering organization to ensure parts are manufacturable.
  • Proven ability to manage multi-problem investigations simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated attitude and ownership of projects
  • Ability to project manage Product and Process Qualifications and unexpected Supplier Quality Issues from beginning to end.
  • Knowledge of inspection methodologies and assessment of inspection capability.
  • Experience working with or at manufacturing facilities
  • Experience working with critical parts (Complex parts such as disc, shaft, complex assemblies)
Preferred
  • Proven track record of application of Quality improvement processes and tools (e.g. 8D, 5 Whys, Ishikawa)
  • SAP experience.
Working requirements
  • In office presence - 2 days min per week
  • No legal travel regulations
  • Travel to suppliers up to 50%
