Job summary

Veolia Greenwich IWF, Nathan Way, Plumstead Marsh, Thamesmead, London, SE28 0AF is seeking a Site Supervisor to lead waste operations at HWRC, Transfer Station and RDF. You will supervise a team, ensure regulatory compliance and drive safe, efficient site operations.

The role requires supervisory experience, health and safety expertise, and knowledge of waste treatment processes. Competitive benefits include annual leave, pension and training opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Ensure operations comply with EA Permit conditions.
• Supervise waste operations at the HWRC, Transfer Station and RDF.
• Supervise at least 18 staff across RDF, HWRC and Transfer Station.
• Ensure the site has competent operational staff.
• Lead and train by example while on site.
• Act as deputy for the Operations Manager during leave or absence.
• Maintain clear communication between team members.
• Build relationships with customers and colleagues.
• Ensure staff are trained and identify training needs.
• Maximise and use fixed and mobile plant on site.
• Ensure materials at HWRC/Transfer Stations are recycled/recovered.
• Report defects or damages promptly.

Shift 4 days on 2 days off, 07:00 to 17:30

• Ensure staff are fully trained and identify areas of training needed.
• Maximise and utilise the fixed and mobile plant on site.
• Ensure the materials at the HWRC and the Transfer Stations are recycled and recovered as much as possible.
• Ensure any defects or damages are reported.

What we are looking for;

Essential:

• Health and Safety Knowledge and Experience.
• Supervisory experience.
• Environmental Knowledge and Experience.
• Yellow Plant experience (shovel, 360)

Desirable:

• CoTC (Certificate of Technical Competence) in Waste Management Operations.
• IOSH.
• First Aid Trained.
• Experience within the waste management industry in a supervisory role, with particular experience of treatment processes, (RDF/MRF/PRF/MBT).
