Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to work in a Sunderland SEN school on a full-time basis, starting ASAP. You will support pupils with diverse needs, including ASD/ADHD and PMLD, in 1:1 and small-group settings, helping them progress and develop learning skills.

The role requires building strong relationships with pupils and staff, and may involve some personal care. Right to work in the UK and an enhanced DBS are essential.

Prospero Teaching is looking for passionate, proactive and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to support the learning of pupils in one of our inspirational SEN Schools across Sunderland to start ASAP on a full-time basis. Pay, Hours and Contract:

About the Role:

• The role will involve supporting pupils with varied SEN and challenging behaviour on both a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
• The School supports pupils with a range of SEN such as varying levels of ASD, ADHD, PMLD, MLD and SEMH
• Additionally, some pupils may be none-verbal and some may require Personal Care so a willingness to support pupils in these contexts is key.
• A key part of the role will be to develop an understanding of the different needs and learning styles of different pupils within the classroom, working closely alongside Class Teachers and colleagues to establish this.

Experience/Qualifications and Requirements:

• A Supporting Teaching and Learning or Childcare-based Qualification (desired)
• Experience of working with Children in Schools in the UK
• An ability to build positive relationships and a rapport with pupils and staff.
• A resilient, proactive, and positive nature
• Hold Right to Work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
• Provide two professional child related references that cover the last two years
