Job summary

Kier Group is offering a Summer Placement Electrical Engineer Student role in Falmer, East Sussex, connected to our Infrastructure team. The placement runs 8 weeks at 40 hours per week, with a July 2027 start and a starting salary of £27,976 per annum.

You will work on the Southern Water framework and gain hands-on experience in electrical design and project delivery. You will be mentored by experienced professionals, develop practical knowledge across electrical systems, and build a foundation

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Must be returning to university after placement.
• Strong interest in electrical engineering and project management.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Hold a full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and development of electrical systems for projects.
• Support preparation of detailed drawings, specifications and reports.
• Conduct site visits to monitor progress and ensure design compliance, safety and quality.
• Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers and contractors to facilitate communication.

Summer Placement Electrical Engineer Student.

We're looking for a Summer Placement Electrical Engineering Student to join our Infrastructure team. You will be working on our Southern Water framework on projects across East Sussex and other areas.

Location:Falmer, East Sussex

Starting Salary:£27,976 per annum

Pathway:8 Weeks– 40hrs per week

Starting date:July 2027

What will you be responsible for?

As a Summer Placement Electrical Engineer,you'llbe working within the Water team assistingin the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience, receive mentorship from experienced professionals, and developa strong foundationin quantity surveying.

What will your day-to-day duties include?

• Assisting in the design and development of electrical systems for projects.
• Supporting the preparation of detailed drawings, specifications, and reports.
• Conducting site visits to monitor progress and ensure compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements.
• Collaborating with project managers, architects, engineers, and contractors to facilitate effective communication and problem-solving.
• Assisting in thepreparation of technical reports, documentation, and project updates

We're on the lookout for students undertaking a degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, who can join us on an 8-weekplacement across July - August.You must be returning to university upon completion of your placement.
