Job summary

Kier Group is offering a Summer Placement Electrical Engineer Student role based in Falmer, East Sussex. You will work within the Infrastructure team on the Southern Water framework, gaining hands-on experience across electrical design, drawings, reports and site checks.

The placement runs for 8 weeks from July 2027, full-time, with mentorship and opportunities to observe quantity surveying aspects within real projects.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Strong interest in electrical engineering and project management.
• You must be returning to university after the placement.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Able to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and development of electrical systems for projects.
• Support preparation of drawings, specifications and reports.
• Attend site visits to monitor progress and ensure compliance with design and safety standards.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers and contractors to enable effective problem‑solving.
• Assist in preparing technical reports and project updates.
