Job description

Job Title: Substitute Teacher
Location: Chichester, West Sussex
Salary: £94 - £140 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate / September 2025
Contract Type: Full-Time (Part-Time can be arranged for the right candidate)

GSL Education are looking for an adaptable and passionate Substitute Teacher to support a vibrant secondary school in Chichester. This role offers flexibility, variety, and the chance to make a meaningful impact across different year groups and subjects.

As a Substitute Teacher, you will step into classrooms with confidence, delivering pre-planned lessons, managing behaviour effectively, and ensuring students remain engaged and on track with their learning.

Responsibilities of the role:

• Support students in their academic development, helping them engage with lessons and progress in their studies.
• Adapt quickly to different classroom settings, maintaining a high standard of teaching throughout.
• Provide feedback to school staff regarding student progress, participation, and classroom behaviour.
• Deliver pre-planned lessons across a variety of subjects and year groups in secondary school settings.
• Manage classroom behaviour effectively, ensuring a positive and focused learning environment.

Requirements for the Role:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification is preferred.
• Prior teaching or classroom management experience is advantageous.
• Strong communication, organisational, and behaviour management skills.
• A flexible and proactive approach to working in diverse school environments.
• SEN experience is a bonus.
• Experienced teachers looking for flexible work are strongly encouraged to apply.
• Provide an up-to-date CV covering the last 10 years with explanations for any gaps.
• An enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or willingness to apply for one through GSL Education.
