Job summary

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN Distribution) is seeking a Technical Services Field Technician in Scotland. The role is predominantly site-based with travel across the SHEPD network to support Protection, Control and SCADA systems in substations.

You will install, modify, test and commission secondary systems, reading schematics and wiring diagrams, under supervision of engineers. A recognised electrical qualification and driving licence are essential for this hands-on field

Qualifications

• Recognised electrical qualification or equivalent experience in electrical installation, panel wiring or control systems.
• Strong practical experience in electrical installation and panel wiring.
• Experience on Protection, Control and SCADA systems and related wiring.
• Ability to read schematic and wiring diagrams to work safely on live LV AC/DC systems.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the network area.

Responsibilities

• Carry out installation and modification works on Protection, Control and SCADA systems in substations.
• Support testing, commissioning and fault-finding with Protection and SCADA Engineers.
• Assist refurbishment, maintenance and upgrades on relays and RTU/SCADA equipment.
• Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams and schedules to work safely on live systems.
• Collaborate with engineers, contractors and operational staff to support delivery and fault response across the network.
