Job summary

SSE is seeking a Technical Services Field Technician to join our team supporting Protection, Control and SCADA systems across the North of Scotland network. The role is predominantly site-based with travel across the SHEPD area and requires hands-on installation, testing and commissioning work.

You will work with Protection and SCADA Engineers on installation, modification and fault-finding activities, read schematics, and help ensure safe, reliable operation of the network.

Qualifications

• Recognised electrical qualification or equivalent experience in electrical installation, panel wiring or control systems.
• Strong practical experience in electrical installation and panel wiring, ideally in substations, industrial or automation environments.
• Experience with Protection/Control/SCADA systems and related wiring/control circuits.

Responsibilities

• Carry out installation and modification works on Protection, Control and SCADA systems within substations.
• Support testing, commissioning and fault-finding activities under guidance of engineers.
• Assist refurbishment, maintenance and upgrades of protection relays and RTU/SCADA equipment.
• Read and interpret schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams and cable schedules for live LV/DC systems.
